Promoting General Aviation

Win a plane !

On the 24th of June we’ll be at Houston Hobby Airport and visit the 1940 Air Terminal Museum. The museum is run by a great team of volunteers which organize events and care for the collections. They also run a giveaway to help with the funding. The prize is nothing else than… a Cessna 172! You can buy ticket for $50 and get a chance to win this aircraft. Click here on the picture below for all details.

@Julien - It is an earlier model, a 1958 to be exact. I’m a volunteer at The 1940 Air Terminal Museum, and one of the pilots who flies this beauty to various fly-ins to sell tickets. To be honest, the lack of a rear window isn’t much of an issue. I learned to fly on N-model 172’s with the rear window, and the only time I miss it is when I’m doing my flight control checks before takeoff - I can’t actually see my rudder moving. Typically though, I can just look at our shadow and see it move anyway, so I know I’m good. It does fly like a dream with that square tail!

Awesome! Looks like one of the earlier models with the square tail and the venturi-driven gyros. I reckon the square tail makes them look nicer than later models, even though the lack of the back window will be a problem to those used to later-models 172s!
